August Recap: Creativity, Connection, and New Adventures

I had such a fulfilling month in August! I taught another sip and paint class, and it was a full house! This time, we painted a relaxing scene with palm trees, a little ocean in the background, and a hammock nestled between the trees. It was wonderful to see the unique takes everyone had on the same scene—there were so many talented artists in the group! Sharing my passion with others continues to be a rewarding experience, and I always leave feeling inspired by the creativity in the room.

Another highlight of the month was a retreat-style weekend that my daughter organized. We all gathered to celebrate a bride-to-be we know and love, and it was such a special time together. One of the activities we explored was painting candles using melted colored wax. It was a different process than anything I’ve done before—learning how to melt the wax and then using paintbrushes to create designs was both challenging and fun. Figuring out the right technique to apply the wax in just the way I had envisioned tested my patience but in the best way!

The month wrapped up with a personal creative milestone: my latest mixed-media painting! After spending so much time journaling with mixed media, I decided to take what I’ve learned and apply it to canvas. It was a fun, freeing process, blending different techniques and mediums. I love how it turned out! I can’t wait to keep exploring and expanding my mixed media work beyond the journal.
