The latest paintings-Waterscapes

This one is so peaceful looking.  I love it!  I think I will call it Peaceful Lake My aquarium! I had so much fun doing this one! I had an idea and ran with it and this is how it came out!

A commissioned piece

A few weeks ago a co-worker came to me and asked if I would paint a purple orchid and a blue butterfly for her mom.  She wanted to give it to her mom who misses her mom.  The purple orchid is for Brynn's mom that loves purple orchids and then the blue butterfly is for her grandmother.  Brynn wants to help her mom feel better.  I hope she likes the painting and that it will help her mom smile more often.

Chaparral, NM

Image
Chaparral is a town in New Mexico with a population of 14,098. Chaparral is in Doña Ana County. Living in Chaparral offers residents a suburban rural mix feel and most residents own their homes. It is about 10 miles outside of El Paso TX.  Las Cruces NM is near by, and White Sands. This painting holds a very special place in my heart.  It reminds me so much of back home, living in Chaparral NM.  I miss going in the summer with my kids, but there isn't anything to go back to.  After my dad passed in October of 2015 we sold the property and mom and stepdad Larry moved to  Eager AZ.  I have a ton of memories of growing up with my little brother at Chaparral so I cherish them evetime I give myself a moment to recall and reflect on the past.

Lunch time creative moment

Image
The other day I put my little tiny set of watercolors and a brush in my bag for work. I had decided that instead of messing around on my phone or browsing online on the computer while I sat and ate my lunch I would have a creative moment.  Its my lunch hour so I can do whatever I want to do during it so why not a little painting! I really enjoyed doing that, taking a moment to be creative was just what I needed that day. It helped me feel refreshed and ready to begin my work day again after lunch.

The latest

Image
This one has been sitting on the easel for over a week now.  I'm not sure if I'm really finished with it or not.  I took this one in stages, the size was a little intimidating at first.  It is a 24 x 36, the biggest that I have done so far.  I love the painting as it is now, with the texture I've added over time but some say I should do yellow leaves on the trees.  I'm just not sure, I thought that by waking passed it and stopping to look at it at times I would have decided by now if I'm leaving it or adding to it, that has not been the case.  I think I will leave it as is for now and try to sale it is right now.  If it sales great! If it doesn't then maybe I will add leaves.  I really like it as is and I don't want to do too much to it and mess it up.  I need to decide how much to sale it for and post it on my website.  If you have read this and you'd like to share your thoughts with me please go ahead in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.

Craft Fair at CCC

Image
The craft fair at Continental Flagstaff was on May 28th during Memorial Weekend.  We had 23 vendors participate.  The wind was not my friend....it kept blowing my paintings down and ended up damaging one of them.  So I had to take them off of the easels and lay them down on the table.  I had lots of people compliment me and some said they would come back but didn't.  I handed out several cards so that was good.  I didn't do as well as I wanted to but that was okay it was a fun day despite it. Karlee, my oldest joined us and sold her awesome handmade ear rings.  She did amazing! I'm looking forward to the Art Walk that we have coming up later this month in June.
